o Bio: The Ptolemaic dynasty was set up by Alexander the Great in 332 B.C. Though because of Alexander's death, his chief general, Ptolemy I Soter, ended up as Pharaoh and his descendants, not Alexander's, continued the dynasty. More than 200 years later, I was born Cleopatra VII Thea Philopator in 69 B.C. to Ptolemy XII Auletes and Cleopatra VI. After my father's death in 51 B.C., I married my brother, Ptolemy XIII Theos Philopator, according to Egyptian custom and co-ruled with him until 47 B.C. when he drowned during my lover Julius Caesar’s assault on Egypt. With Caesar, I had a child named Caesarion, but his parentage was highly disputed and he was never acknowledged as Caesar's heir. Because of the death of Ptolemy XIII, I married my younger brother and co-ruled with him until 44 B.C. which coincidentally is the same year Caesar was assassinated. During the turmoil after Caesar's death, I met Mark Antony and had three children with him, Alexander Helios, Ptolemy Philadelphus and Cleopatra Selene. My attempt to secure my dynasty through Antony's power failed, out of my four children only Cleopatra Selene lived to rule, though she did not rue Egypt. Later Octavian, Caesar’s heir, defeated Antony in battle. After his loss and in shame, Antony committed suicide. Rather than face a world without Antony and without political power, I committed suicide in 30 B.C. by having a poisonous snake bite me. Afterward, Egypt became a Roman province, an event I worked to avoid my entire life. I was the last of the Ptolemaic queens, ending the dynasty which had ruled Egypt for almost 300 years. Though my dynasty was set up by foreigners, my ancestors ruled Egypt as Egyptians, embracing the culture, so today I am considered the last true Pharaoh of Egypt.
